Sunan Abi Dawud : 1354
Sunan Abi DawudHadith Number 1354
The above tradition has also been transmitted by Husain through a different chain of narrators in like manner. This version has the words: "And give me abundant light." Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been transmitted by Abu Khalid al-Dalani from Habib and Salamah b. Kuhail from Abu Rishdin from Ibn 'Abbas in a similar manner.
[1] What is apparent is that he means that it does not contain the word: Allāhumma , in the version referred to with the chain of number 1354.Reference : Sunan Abi Dawud 1354In-book reference : Book 5, Hadith 105English translation : Book 5, Hadith 1349
Summary of Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith 1354
This Hadith is a short version connected to the previous report about the Prophet's night prayer and the dua for light. It says that Husain transmitted the tradition through another chain in a similar way. The wording highlighted here is, and give me abundant light. Abu Dawud also notes that Abu Khalid al-Dalani, Habib, Salamah b. Kuhail, Abu Rishdin, and Ibn Abbas transmitted it in a similar manner. For readers searching for dua for light hadith or abundant light dua, this narration mainly preserves a phrase and points to how the report was transmitted. It should not be treated as a separate full story from the longer account.
What we learn from this hadith
- The highlighted wording asks Allah for abundant light.
- This text connects to the longer Ibn Abbas night prayer report.
- Several names in the chain are mentioned to show related transmission paths.
- The report focuses on wording preservation rather than a new prayer count.
