Sunan Abi Dawud 1490 — Earnest Supplication Posture

Summary of Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith 1490

This version continues the report from Ibn Abbas about the manner of earnest supplication. It says that earnest supplication should be made like this: he raised his hands and made his palms in the direction of his face. The hadith is short, so its teaching is also focused. It describes a particular hand position for ibtihal, or earnest supplication. The report does not add a separate dua phrase or promise. It simply shows how the hands were positioned. This is useful for people searching for earnest supplication hadith, palms toward face in dua, and raising hands in dua. The safest explanation is that this narration records a physical manner for intense asking, as described by Ibn Abbas in this version.
