حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ كَانَتْ قَبِيعَةُ سَيْفِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِضَّةً . قَالَ قَتَادَةُ وَمَا عَلِمْتُ أَحَدًا تَابَعَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ .
Sa'id ibn AbulHasan Narrated from:
The pommel of the sword of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was of silver. Qatadah said: I do not know that anyone has supported him for that (for the tradition narrated by Sa'id b. Abu al-Hasan).
[1] Some of the commentaries consider this to be a mistake, and that it should be "Abū Dāwūd said:" and the meaning would be that Abū Dāwūd does not know of anyone else who narrated it like this, except for Jarīr bin Hāzim, who narrated number 2583; meaning — if this is correct — that the author considers the correct narration from Qatādah to be the one he narrated from Sa'eed, who is the brother of Al-Hasan Al-Baṣrī.Reference : Sunan Abi Dawud 2584In-book reference : Book 15, Hadith 108English translation : Book 14, Hadith 2578
