Summary of Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith 865
This narration is brief, but its meaning is tied to the previous report about prayer accountability. It says Abu Hurairah transmitted the same tradition through another chain of narrators. So the core message remains the same: prayer has weight, and it is examined. The believer should not treat salah as a small matter. The related wording explains that obligatory prayer is checked for completion, and voluntary prayer may be used to make up what is lacking. Since this hadith itself only says the report came by another chain to the same effect, the explanation should stay close to that. It highlights the repeated concern for prayer, careful worship, and the value of extra prayer without adding details not found in the report.
What we learn from this hadith
- The same teaching about prayer accountability is reported again.
- Repeated narration points attention back to the value of salah.
- Voluntary prayer is connected to completing what is lacking in obligatory prayer.
- A believer should care about both required and extra prayer.
