Summary of Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith 94
This hadith about two-thirds of a mudd for wudu gives another report about the amount of water used for ablution. Umm Umarah narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) wanted to perform ablution, and a vessel containing about two-thirds of a mudd of water was brought to him. The hadith does not give a full description of the ablution steps. Its focus is the vessel and the amount of water. For people searching for how much water is needed for wudu, this narration shows that the amount mentioned was small and measured. It also fits the wider topic of simple and careful water use in purification.
