Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 4224
This narration is another wording of the Khaibar cooking pots hadith. Al-Bara and Ibn Abi Aufa report that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم gave the order on the day of Khaibar while the pots had been placed on the fire. The command was simple: turn the cooking pots upside down. The hadith does not add extra explanation in this text, so the safe reading is to keep the focus on the command itself. It speaks to a common search topic: the donkey meat ruling at Khaibar and how the companions responded when the order came. The pots being on the fire shows the action was already in progress, yet the command stopped it. The teaching is practical obedience to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم without arguing with the instruction.
What we learn from this hadith
- A command from the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was followed even after cooking had begun.
- The report keeps the message brief and direct.
- The event teaches that food should not be kept when a clear order says to discard it.
