Sahih Bukhari 5128 — Do Not Block an Orphan Girl's Marriage
Whoever said, "A marriage is not valid except through the Wali."

A'isha Narrated from:
Narrated `Aisha: (as regards the Verse):'And about what is recited unto you in the Book, concerning orphan girls to whom you give not the prescribed portions and yet, whom you desire to marry.' (4.127)This Verse is about the female orphan who is under the guardianship of a man with whom she shares her property and he has more right over her (than anybody else) but does not like to marry her, so he prevents her, from marrying somebody else, lest he should share the property with him.

Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 5128
This hadith explains orphan girl marriage rights through Aisha's explanation of the verse. The female orphan is under a man's guardianship and shares property with him. The man has authority over her situation, but the text says he wants to hold her back because of her property and does not marry her to someone else. His dislike is tied to fear that another man would share in her property. The report is about unfair control, not about care. The main lesson is that a guardian should not use guardianship to block a woman's marriage for money. The text puts attention on property, power, and unfair prevention.
What we learn from this hadith
- A guardian in the report was connected to the orphan girl's property.
- The problem described is blocking her marriage for financial interest.
- The verse is explained as dealing with unfair treatment of female orphans.
- Guardianship should not be used to hold back someone's marriage rights.
