Sahih Bukhari : 6030
Sahih BukhariHadith Number 6030
`Abdullah bin Mulaika Narrated from:
`Aisha said that the Jews came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, "As-Samu 'Alaikum" (death be on you). `Aisha said (to them), "(Death) be on you, and may Allah curse you and shower His wrath upon you!" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Be calm, O `Aisha ! You should be kind and lenient, and beware of harshness and Fuhsh (i.e. bad words)." She said (to the Prophet), "Haven't you heard what they (Jews) have said?" He said, "Haven't you heard what I have said (to them)? I said the same to them, and my invocation against them will be accepted while theirs against me will be rejected (by Allah). "

Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 6030
This Hadith about gentleness shows how the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم responded with calm control when people spoke harmful words to him. Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, reacted strongly after hearing the insult, but the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم guided her toward kindness, leniency, and clean speech. The main lesson is not weakness, but self-control. He did not answer bad words with bad words. He replied in a measured way and trusted Allah with the matter. This makes the Hadith a strong reminder about Islamic manners, avoiding harsh speech, and keeping dignity even when provoked. It also teaches that a believer should not let anger push the tongue into curses or foul words.
What we learn from this hadith
- Responding calmly to insult is part of Prophetic manners.
- Kindness and leniency are preferred over harshness and foul speech.
- A believer should control anger before it leads to bad words.
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم corrected Aisha with gentle teaching, not with harshness.
