Hadith About Aisha Before Marriage in a Dream

Sahih BukhariHadith Number 7012

A'isha Narrated from:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to me, "You were shown to me twice (in my dream) before I married you. I saw an angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said to him, 'Uncover (her),' and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.' Then you were shown to me, the angel carrying you in a silken piece of cloth, and I said (to him), 'Uncover (her), and behold, it was you. I said (to myself), 'If this is from Allah, then it must happen.' "

Summary of Sahih Bukhari Hadith 7012

This hadith about Aisha before marriage gives a fuller wording of the dream mentioned in the nearby narration. Allah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said that Aisha was shown to him twice before he married her. In the dream, an angel carried her in a piece of silk. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم asked for her to be uncovered, and he saw that it was Aisha. He then said that if this was from Allah, it would happen. The report is centered on trust in Allah’s decree and on the Prophet’s own dream. It does not give a general rule that every dream must be acted on. Its core message is that what Allah wills is carried out.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم connected the dream to Allah’s will.
  • The same dream being shown twice is part of the wording of this report.
  • The hadith teaches trust in Allah’s decree without overclaiming.
  • Dreams should be treated with care and not used for unsupported claims.
