Summary of Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith 1765
This reward of grateful eater hadith gives a simple but deep teaching. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said that a grateful eater will have a reward like that of a patient fasting person. The hadith mentions two qualities: gratitude and patience. The eater is praised because he is thankful, not simply because he eats. The fasting person is praised because he is patient, not simply because he is hungry. This helps us see that the state of the heart matters. Food can become a moment of worship when a person receives it with thankfulness. Fasting can become a strong act of worship when a person bears it with patience.
What we learn from this hadith
- Gratitude while eating is given special value in this narration.
- Patience while fasting is also praised clearly.
- The hadith encourages a thankful heart in normal daily life.
- Reward is connected to the inner quality behind the action.
