Summary of Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith 1889
This Hadith about Quran as mahr tells a simple story. A woman came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, and he asked who would marry her. A man said he would. The Prophet told him to give her something, even an iron ring. When the man said he did not have one, the Prophet said that he married her to him for what he knew of the Quran. The main lesson is that the marriage contract still looked for something to be given, but the matter was not made impossible for a person with very little wealth. For searches like iron ring mahr hadith or Quran as dowry hadith, this narration shows ease while still treating marriage seriously.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم first asked the man to give something as mahr.
- Even a small item like an iron ring was mentioned.
- When the man had nothing, what he knew of the Quran was accepted in this case.
