حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الشَّافِعِيُّ، إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، سَمِعَ كُرَيْبًا، يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ، يَقُولُ بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْ شَنَّةٍ وُضُوءًا يُقَلِّلُهُ فَقُمْتُ فَصَنَعْتُ كَمَا صَنَعَ .
Kuraib Narrated from:
I heard Ibn 'Abbas say: 'I stayed overnight with my maternal aunt Maimunah, and the Prophet got up and performed ablution from an old water skin, and he did a brief ablution. Then I got up and did the same as he had done.

Summary of Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith 423
This Hadith shows a simple scene from the life of the Prophet. Ibn Abbas stayed overnight at the home of his maternal aunt Maimunah. The Prophet got up and performed ablution from an old water skin, and the narration says he did a brief ablution. Then Ibn Abbas got up and did the same as the Prophet had done. The core teaching is brief wudu and following the Sunnah. The Hadith does not describe every step in detail, so the explanation should stay close to the text: the Prophet used available water, performed a light form of ablution, and Ibn Abbas copied what he saw.
