Summary of Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith 758
This hadith about purifying and perfuming mosques highlights the care due to places of prayer. Aishah narrated that the Messenger of Allah commanded that mosques be built in Ad-Dur villages, and that they be purified and perfumed. The hadith joins two ideas: establishing places for worship and maintaining them well. A mosque is not only built once and then ignored. It should be kept clean and pleasant for those who pray there. The wording does not give extra details about methods, so the main focus is simple: create places of prayer and care for their purity and good scent. This is a clear lesson in mosque maintenance.
What we learn from this hadith
- Mosques should be established where people need places of prayer.
- The hadith commands that mosques be purified.
