Summary of Sunan Ibn Majah Hadith 883

This Hadith gives a very direct teaching about prostrating on seven bones. Ibn ‘Abbas reports that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said he had been commanded to prostrate on seven bones. The narration in this text does not list the seven parts, so we should not add the list here from outside the wording. Its main lesson is that sujood is not random body movement; it has a set form taught to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. People searching for seven bones in sujood hadith usually want to know what the command means in salah. This report points to the importance of performing prostration with the body parts required by the prophetic teaching.

What we learn from this hadith

  • Sujood has a taught form, not a self-made posture.
  • The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم linked prostration to seven bones.
  • The narration shows that the body has a role in obeying Allah during prayer.
  • The short wording should be understood without adding details not found in this report.
