Al-Lu'lu Wal-Marjan 134 — The Book of At-Tahâra (Purification)
Purification is compulsory for Salât (prayers) (i.e. purify the small Hadath by ablution and big Hadath by taking a bath).

حديث أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: لَا يَقْبَلُ اللهُ صَلاةَ أَحَدِكُمْ إِذَا أَحْدَثَ حَتَّى يَتَوَضَّأَ.
Abu Hurairah Narrated from:
The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said, "Allâh does not accept Salât (prayer) of anyone of you if he does (small) Hadath (passes wind etc.) till he performs the ablution (anew)." ( Sahih Al-Bukhârî, Hadîth No. 86, Vol. 9 )
