Al-Lu'lu Wal-MarjanHadith Number 612
Ibn 'Umar Narrated from:
Allâh's Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم mentioned about As-Sadaqa (charity, alms etc.), At-Ta'affuf (refraining from asking others for some financial help) and Al-Mas'alah (begging others) while on the pulpit and said: "The upper hand is better than the lower hand. The upper hand is that of the giver and the lower hand is that of the beggar." ( Sahîh Al-Bukhârî, Hadîth No. 509, Vol. 2 )
