Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 1176a
This Dhu'l-Hijja fasting hadith reports a specific observation from 'A'isha. She said that she never saw the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم fasting in the ten days of Dhu'l-Hijja. The wording is about what she saw, so the explanation should not go beyond that and claim more than the text says. The Hadith is useful because it shows how Companions preserved even personal observations about the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم practice. It also teaches care when speaking about worship: we should report what is actually stated. Here, the main point is not a broad ruling, but 'A'isha’s report about not seeing him fast in those ten days.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Hadith records a direct observation from 'A'isha.
- Religious reports should be stated carefully without adding extra claims.
- The text says she did not see the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم fasting in those ten days.
- Companions preserved details about the Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم worship practice.
