حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ اللَّيْثِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ جَدِّي، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " يَأْتِي الْعَبْدَ الشَّيْطَانُ فَيَقُولُ مَنْ خَلَقَ كَذَا وَكَذَا " مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ .

The Satan comes to the bondsman (of Allah) and says: Who created this and that? The remaining part of the hadith is the same.

This hadith about doubts in faith repeats the same warning through another chain. Satan comes to the bondsman of Allah and asks, “Who created this and that?” The remaining part is stated to be the same, so the meaning stays tied to the earlier guidance: the believer should not let such questions grow into a harmful whisper about Allah. The wording shows that these thoughts may come to a servant of Allah, not only to a careless person. The right path is to return to faith, seek Allah’s protection when the thought reaches that point, and keep away from the idle question.
