Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 1394e

This same chain of transmitters hadith is brief and focuses on isnad, or the route of narration. The supplied text does not repeat the full wording of the previous report. It simply says that this hadith was narrated by Yahya b. Sa’id with the same chain of transmitters. Because of that, the explanation should not create a new message from the wording itself. Its main value is that it supports the transmission route connected to the nearby report about prayer in the Prophet’s Mosque. A reader should notice how hadith books often preserve not only the main wording, but also the chains through which the wording was carried.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The narration highlights the importance of chains of transmitters.
  • A short report may support the route of a previous narration.
  • The text should not be expanded beyond what it states.
  • Hadith preservation includes careful attention to who narrated from whom.
