Sahih Muslim 1584d — Equal Weight in Gold and Silver

Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 1584d

This equal weight gold and silver Hadith gives a short and clear rule. Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said not to sell gold for gold and silver for silver except weight for weight, like for like, and equal for equal. The narration focuses on fairness in same-type exchange. It does not mention other items in this wording, so the explanation should stay with gold and silver only. The key teaching is that a trade should not hide an extra gain when the same kind is being exchanged. For readers searching for gold for gold hadith, silver for silver hadith, or riba exchange rules, this report gives the core idea in a brief form: equality is required.
