وَحَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، وَأَبِي، صَالِحٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو حُمَيْدٍ بِقَدَحٍ مِنْ لَبَنٍ مِنَ النَّقِيعِ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم " أَلاَّ خَمَّرْتَهُ وَلَوْ تَعْرُضُ عَلَيْهِ عُودًا " .
Jabir Narrated from:
A person who was known as Abu Humaid brought for him (the Holy Prophet) a cup of milk from al-Naqi'. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: Why did you not cover it even with a wood across it?

This Hadith gives the same practical teaching through a short report. A man known as Abu Humaid brought a cup of milk from al-Naqi' to the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم). The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked him why he did not cover it, even with a piece of wood across it. The meaning is plain and useful. Food and drink should not be left open when they are being brought or served. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) did not ask for a costly cover or a difficult method. He mentioned even a small piece of wood. This makes the teaching easy for every home. The Hadith supports clean habits, careful serving, and respect for blessings like milk.
