Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2217b

This entry is another chain for the honey Hadith narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, with a slight wording variation. The report says a man came to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and spoke about his brother’s stomach or bowels, and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم instructed him to give honey. Since the translation tells us it is in the meaning of the fuller narration, the explanation should stay close to that wording and not add extra medical claims. People often look for this as honey hadith, Prophetic medicine honey, or hadith about stomach illness. The simple lesson is that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم guided the man to honey for his brother’s condition. The wording also shows that repeated instruction can be part of the report, but this object should not turn it into a broad rule for every stomach problem beyond what the text says.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم directed the man to give honey for his brother’s loose bowels.
  • The man returned with concern, and the instruction was repeated.
  • The report ends by saying the brother recovered after being given honey.
  • The teaching should be kept to the case described in the Hadith.
