Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2223d

This narration lists several beliefs and then ends with a hopeful point. Abu Huraira reports that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم said there is no transitive disease, no Hama, and no divination, but he loved good omen. The hadith removes fear from old beliefs and false signs. It does not ask the believer to be gloomy or harsh. Instead, it leaves room for good omen in the sense shown by the related narrations: a good word that brings hope. The message is balanced. Do not let Hama, divination, or disease rule your heart as independent powers. At the same time, welcome good words that lift the heart without claiming hidden knowledge.

What we learn from this hadith

  • Hama and divination are rejected as fear-based beliefs.
  • Good omen is valued when it stays within clean, hopeful speech.
  • A believer should not let false signs rule the heart.
  • The hadith balances firm belief with hope-filled words.
