Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2307c
This Medina alarm hadith is not a new full story by itself. It says that the report was transmitted from Anas with a slight variation in wording. One wording says the horse was from them, while another wording does not say it belonged to Abu Talha. The narration also notes that in Khalid's version, Qatada said that he heard Anas. This kind of report is useful because it shows how the same event was preserved through different chains and small wording differences. The core event remains tied to the earlier report: a moment of fear in Medina, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم riding toward the sound, and the matter being calmed. Here, the focus is on transmission and wording, not on adding a new teaching beyond the report.
What we learn from this hadith
- The same event may be transmitted with slight wording differences.
- This report preserves details about how the narration was passed down.
- The wording difference concerns how the horse was described.
- The narration teaches care in noting exact wording and chains.
