43/37. Chapter:

Respecting Him And Not Asking Him Unnecessary Questions

Sahih MuslimHadith Number 2358c

وَحَدَّثَنِيهِ حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ، حُمَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، كِلاَهُمَا عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ‏.‏ وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ ‏ "‏ رَجُلٌ سَأَلَ عَنْ شَىْءٍ وَنَقَّرَ عَنْهُ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَعْدًا ‏.‏

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri with the same chain of transmitters and with this addition: " A person asked about a thing from Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and he indulged in hair-splitting."
