Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2398b
This entry is a transmission note for the Hadith about Umar as an inspired person. It says the hadith has been narrated on the authority of Sa'd b. Ibrahim with the same chain of transmitters. Since the wording points back to the previous report, the core meaning remains the same: the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم spoke about inspired people among earlier nations and said that if anyone in his Ummah were among them, Umar ibn al-Khattab would be one of them. The value of this short report is that it records another route for the same meaning. For someone studying Sahih Muslim 2398b, the focus is not a new event but the careful preservation of the same narration.
What we learn from this hadith
- Hadith transmission often records repeated chains for the same meaning.
- This report supports the wording already given about Umar's special insight.
- A brief chain note can still be useful for hadith study.
- The text does not add a new event, so explanation should stay tied to the earlier wording.
