Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The gates of Paradise are not opened but on two days, Monday and Thursday. and then every servant (of Allah) is granted pardon who does not associate anything with Allah except the person in whose (heart) there is rancour against his brother. And it would be said: Look towards both of them until there is reconciliation; look toward both of them until there is reconciliation; look towards both of them until there is reconciliation. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Suhail who narrated it on the authority of his father with the chain of transmitters of MaIik, but with this variation of wording:, (Those would not be granted pardon) who bycott each other."

Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2565b

This narration repeats the teaching that the gates of Paradise are opened on Monday and Thursday, and servants who do not associate anything with Allah are granted pardon, except those who hold rancour against a brother. It also mentions a wording variation about those who boycott each other. That makes the core lesson very practical. For readers searching for hadith about boycotting each other, the text points to the harm of staying cut off when reconciliation is needed. It does not tell us to ignore real problems, but it clearly warns against letting hostility remain between Muslims. The repeated call is: wait until they reconcile.

What we learn from this hadith

  • Boycotting each other is connected here with delayed pardon.
  • The hadith repeats reconciliation as the way forward.
  • Avoiding shirk is mentioned as the main condition for general pardon.
  • A Muslim should not treat hatred between brothers as a small matter.
