Agharr Abi Muslim reported: I bear witness to the fact that both Abu Huraira and Abu Sa'id Khudri were present when Allah's Messenger may peace be upon him said: The people do not sit but they are surrounded by angels and covered by Mercy, and there descends upon them tranquillity as they remember Allah, and Allah makes a mention of them to those who are near Him. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Shu'ba with the same chain of transmitters.

Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2700b

This Hadith repeats the report that people who sit remembering Allah are surrounded by angels, covered by mercy, given tranquility, and mentioned by Allah to those near Him. Since the text is the same as the other narration, its lesson is also the same. It gives a clear picture of the value of sincere dhikr gatherings. The people are not described by wealth, rank, or public image. They are described by their act: remembering Allah. The Hadith encourages believers to make gatherings meaningful by filling them with remembrance of Allah, praise of Him, and a purpose that brings the heart back to its Lord.

What we learn from this hadith

  • The same report is preserved through narration.
  • Dhikr gatherings are connected with angels, mercy, and tranquility.
