Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2885a
This hadith about fitnah gives a short but strong warning. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم climbed a battlement in Madinah and told the people that they did not see what he saw. He said he saw the places of turmoil between their houses like the places where rain falls. The image is easy to understand: fitnah can spread in many places, close to daily life, and not only far away. The text does not list the details of each turmoil, so the explanation should stay careful. The core lesson is awareness. A believer should not treat social trouble, conflict, and confusion as small matters when the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم described their reach in such serious words.
What we learn from this hadith
- Fitnah can appear close to people, even around their homes.
- The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم warned the Companions about turmoil they could not see at that moment.
- The comparison to rainfall shows many points of trouble, not just one event.
- A believer should be alert when conflict and confusion spread.
