A'isha Narrated from:
When anyone amongst us was menstruating the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) asked her to tie waist-wrapper daring the time when the menstrual blood profusely flowed and then embraced her; and she ('A'isha) observed: And who amongst you can have control over his desires as the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had over his desires.

Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 293b
This hadith gives more detail about the waist-wrapper during menstruation. A’isha reported that when one of the Prophet’s wives was menstruating, the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) asked her to tie a waist-wrapper during the time when menstrual blood flowed heavily, then he embraced her. A’isha then added that none of the people had control over desire like the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) had. The core topic is menstruation and intimacy in Islam, but the wording also points to self-control. The report should not be stretched beyond what it says. It mentions covering, embracing, and the Prophet’s control over his desire.
What we learn from this hadith
- The waist-wrapper is mentioned during the flow of menstruation.
- The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) embraced after that covering.
- A’isha pointed to the Prophet’s self-control.
