Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 2991b
This narration states that the Hadith of Anas was narrated through another chain of transmitters with the same meaning. Its value here is that it repeats the same teaching found in the previous report: sneezing etiquette begins when the person who sneezes praises Allah. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) responded with mercy for the one who praised Allah and did not respond in the same way to the one who did not. This short report keeps the focus on the same daily Sunnah. A Muslim should remember Allah after sneezing, and others respond with a prayer of mercy when that praise is said.
What we learn from this hadith
- The same sneezing etiquette is preserved through another chain.
- Praising Allah after sneezing is the starting point of the response.
- The response of mercy follows the sneezer's praise of Allah.
- Daily manners can include remembrance of Allah.
