Abu Hurairah Narrated from:
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying that Allah said to him: " Spend, I will bestow upon you." And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The right hand of Allah is full and spending (the riches) liberally during day and night will not diminish (the resources of Allah). Don't you see what (an enormous amount of resources) He has spent since He created the heaven and the earth, and what is in His right hand has not decreased? His Throne is upon the water. And in His other hand is death, and He elevates and degrades (whom He likes).
[1] Al-Qabd The Grasp. It is said that its meaning is death, and it is said that it is an expression that refers to the decrees (of what will be provided), since in another narration it is: "In His Hand is the Balance."Reference : Sahih Muslim 993bIn-book reference : Book 12, Hadith 46USC-MSA web (English) reference : Book 5, Hadith 2179
Summary of Sahih Muslim Hadith 993b
This Hadith about Allah’s bounty repeats the command to spend and the promise that Allah will bestow. It then gives a wider picture of Allah’s giving. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم says that the right hand of Allah is full and that spending day and night does not decrease what is with Him. The Hadith also points to what Allah has spent since creating the heavens and the earth, while His resources remain undiminished. It mentions His Throne upon the water, and that in His other hand is death, and He elevates and lowers whom He wills. The main lesson is trust in Allah’s generous giving.
What we learn from this hadith
- Allah commands spending and promises to bestow in return.
- Allah’s bounty is described as not decreasing through giving.
- The Hadith reminds us that Allah has given since creating the heavens and earth.
