Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 3835
This narration teaches that a vow to commit disobedience is not to be treated like a lawful act of worship. The Messenger of Allah said there is no vow in disobedience, and he added that its expiation is the expiation of an oath. That means the text does not tell the person to perform the sinful action for the sake of keeping a promise. Instead, it rejects the vow and names the type of expiation connected to it. The hadith is concise, so it does not explain the separate steps of oath expiation. Its core teaching is still complete: wrongdoing does not become right because someone vowed to do it. For readers searching for the kaffarah of a sinful vow, the narration points directly to the expiation used for an oath.
What we learn from this hadith
- A vow to disobey is not to be fulfilled.
- Making a promise does not turn wrongdoing into obedience.
- The narration assigns the expiation of an oath.
- The detailed acts of expiation are not listed in this report.
