Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 3954
This hadith about Jibril greeting Aishah gives the Prophet’s words directly: “O Aishah, this is Jibril and he is sending greetings of salam to you.” The report says that the rest was the same as the preceding narration. Its focus is therefore the Prophet identifying Jibril and conveying his greeting to Aishah. The compiler then adds an important transmission judgment: this version is correct, while the previous one is mistaken. That final note is part of the supplied text and should be kept separate from the spiritual message of the greeting. The hadith does not say that Aishah saw Jibril. It says the Prophet identified him and passed on his salam. For readers, the key themes are Aishah’s honor, the greeting of peace, and careful attention to the wording and transmission note attached to the narration.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet identified Jibril and conveyed his salam to Aishah.
- The text does not say that Aishah saw Jibril herself.
- The compiler marks this version as correct and the previous version as mistaken.
- Both the greeting and the transmission note should be read carefully.
