Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 4833
This hadith reports that people from Banu Tha'labah came while the Prophet was delivering a speech. A man mentioned that they were Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu, who had killed someone from among the Companions in the earlier time mentioned in the report. The Prophet answered with a clear rule: no soul is affected by the sin of another. This hadith about personal accountability teaches that guilt is not placed on a whole group simply because someone from them committed a killing. The wording is direct and easy to understand. Responsibility belongs to the person connected to the act, not to unrelated souls.
What we learn from this hadith
- No soul is affected by the sin of another, as stated in the hadith.
- A group should not be blamed as a whole for another person's act.
