It was narrated from Rib'i, from his wife, that the sister of Hudhaifah said: "The Messenger of Allah [SAW] addressed us and said: 'O women, do you not have any silver to wear for adornment? For there is no woman among you who wears gold and shows it, but she will be punished because of it.'"

Summary of Sunan an-Nasai Hadith 5137
This hadith records an address to women. The Messenger of Allah SAW asked whether they had silver to wear for adornment, then warned that no woman among them wears gold and shows it except that she will be punished because of it. The key phrase is “wears gold and shows it.” The explanation should not turn this into a claim about every case of gold, because the text speaks about showing it. The hadith about women’s gold adornment teaches modesty, restraint, and caution with display. It also points to silver as an adornment mentioned in the Prophet’s address.
What we learn from this hadith
- The Prophet pointed women toward silver as adornment in this address.
- The warning in the text is tied to wearing gold and showing it.
- Adornment should be handled with modesty and care.
- The hadith should not be explained beyond the wording given here.
