Prophetic Traditions and Sunnah of Eid Prayer
According to Islamic scholars, these beautiful narrations highlight the specific traditions and manners practiced by the Prophet (ﷺ) on the day of Eid. A prominent custom is to eat something, specifically an odd number of dates, before proceeding to the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer. Companions also emphasized that it is part of the Sunnah to walk to the prayer place rather than ride, whenever possible. Furthermore, the Prophet (ﷺ) would intentionally alter his route, arriving at the prayer ground using one path and returning home via a completely different road. Finally, these texts clarify important timings; if a community establishes the crescent moon sighting later in the day after the sun has risen, they are instructed to break their fast immediately and head out for the Eid prayer the following morning.
It was narrated from 'Umair bin Anas from his paternal uncles, that : Some people saw the crescent moon and came to the Prophet (ﷺ), and he told them to break their fast after the sun has risen and to go out for 'Eid the (morning of the) following day.
