Prophetic Rulings and Hadiths on Storing Qurbani Meat

These authentic collections outline the flexible rules regarding the preservation and consumption of your sacrificial meat. Initially, the Prophet (ﷺ) instructed companions not to keep any meat beyond three days, aiming to support those experiencing a hard time and ensure the needy were fed. However, companions like Aisha later noted that this temporary measure was not a final or permanent restriction. In subsequent years, as circumstances improved, a new verdict allowed Muslims to eat, share, and store the meat as they pleased. According to Islamic scholars, while some companions strictly observed the three-day rule for certain types of sacrificial meat like the Hadi, the general practice evolved into a balanced system of personal consumption, preservation through traditional methods like salting, and acts of charity to help the wider community.
