The Complete Prohibition of Alcohol in Authentic Prophetic Hadiths
According to the authentic narrations in Islam, the complete prohibition of alcohol was met with immediate obedience by the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). When the absolute command banning all intoxicants was announced, companions like Abu Talha Al-Ansari promptly ordered their jars of date-infused wine to be broken without hesitation. The text emphasizes that consuming alcoholic drinks carries severe spiritual consequences, as the Prophet (ﷺ) explicitly stated that whoever drinks alcohol in this world and fails to repent before passing away will be deprived of it in the Hereafter. According to Islamic scholars, these traditions highlight both the urgency of staying away from intoxicants and the immense value of sincere repentance.

Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari: that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection."
