Prophetic Guidance and Bedtime Safety Hadiths on Sleeping
According to Islamic teachings, sleeping safely involves following explicit practical precautions left by the Prophet (ﷺ). The provided authentic hadiths emphasize a crucial bedtime safety rule: ensuring all fire hazards and lights are completely extinguished before going to bed. The Prophet (ﷺ) described fire as an enemy to households when left unattended, pointing out tragic historical incidents in Medina where homes were completely burnt overnight with their occupants inside. To protect families from unexpected harm, these narrations advise Muslims to cover kitchen utensils, securely close household doors, and put out lamps. This prevents household pests like rats from accidentally pulling a lit wick and causing devastating accidental fires while everyone is asleep.
