Authentic Hadiths on Quranic Healing and Ruqyah

These authentic prophetic traditions shed light on the practice of Ruqyah and seeking spiritual cure through the Book of Allah. According to Islamic scholars, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) permitted and practiced Ruqyah, particularly using verses from the Quran like Surat al-Fatiha and the Mu'awwidhat (Surat An-Nas and Surat Al-Falaq) to seek relief from ailments, the evil eye, and physical afflictions. The text indicates that the companions successfully utilized Surat al-Fatiha as a cure for a venomous sting, which the Prophet (ﷺ) subsequently validated. Furthermore, the narration concerning the seventy thousand who enter Paradise without reckoning emphasizes that absolute reliance and trust must remain in Allah alone. Overall, these narrations highlight the profound healing blessings contained within the words of Allah when paired with authentic faith.

Narrated `Aisha: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to say to the patient, "In the Name of Allah The earth of our land and the saliva of some of us cure our patient."

[1] The Prophet ﷺ while reciting the Ruqya , put some of his saliva on his index finger and touched the earth with it and applied the resulting mixture to the place of the ailment.Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 5745In-book reference : Book 76, Hadith 60USC-MSA web (English) reference : Vol. 7, Book 71, Hadith 641

[1] See Al-Bukhārī , no. 5691, Ibn Hajar explained that the patient is made to lay on his back, and something is put under his shoulders in order to make his head tilt backwards, then water or oil containing medicine is dripped into the nose.[2] It refers to a process by which one removes a spell, or treats a person who has been affected by a jinn. If one uses Ruqyah with what is lawful, there is no harm, but the Nushrah employed by witches and the like is unlawful.Reference : Sunan Abi Dawud 3868In-book reference : Book 29, Hadith 14English translation : Book 28, Hadith 3859

Ibn 'Abbas Narrated from:

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Nations were displayed before me; one or two prophets would pass by along with a few followers. A prophet would pass by accompanied by nobody. Then a big crowd of people passed in front of me and I asked, Who are they Are they my followers?" It was said, 'No. It is Moses and his followers It was said to me, 'Look at the horizon.'' Behold! There was a multitude of people filling the horizon. Then it was said to me, 'Look there and there about the stretching sky! Behold! There was a multitude filling the horizon,' It was said to me, 'This is your nation out of whom seventy thousand shall enter Paradise without reckoning.'"Then the Prophet (ﷺ) entered his house without telling his companions who they (the 70,000) were. So the people started talking about the issue and said, "It is we who have believed in Allah and followed His Apostle; therefore those people are either ourselves or our children who are born m the Islamic era, for we were born in the Pre-Islamic Period of Ignorance.''When the Prophet (ﷺ) heard of that, he came out and said. "Those people are those who do not treat themselves with Ruqya, nor do they believe in bad or good omen (from birds etc.) nor do they get themselves branded (Cauterized). but they put their trust (only) in their Lord "On that 'Ukasha bin Muhsin said. "Am I one of them, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?' The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Yes." Then another person got up and said, "Am I one of them?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Ukasha has anticipated you."
