Prophetic Hadiths on Sharing Water
These authentic prophetic hadiths teach the vital importance of sharing foundational resources like water, pasture, salt, and fire. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) declared that Muslims are partners in three essential things: water, pasture, and fire, explicitly highlighting that taking a price for resources like flowing water is unlawful. According to Islamic scholars, sharing these elements fosters communal goodwill and survival. In a dialogue with 'Aishah, the Prophet clarified that offering water when it is abundant carries the reward of freeing a slave, while saving someone with a drink when water is scarce is equivalent to bringing them back to life. Similarly, giving fire or salt counts as immense charity, as if one donated all food prepared or enhanced by them.
