Prophetic Guidance on Seeking Knowledge and Reciting the Quran

These authentic prophetic traditions highlight the immense spiritual blessings and dedication required when engaging with the Holy Quran. Reciting the Quran brings down divine tranquility (Sakinah) into our homes, serving as a source of peace that can even be felt by the world around us. Furthermore, the Prophet Muhammad emphasized the importance of learning proper Quranic recitation and understanding from established, expert teachers. According to Islamic scholars, figures like Abdullah bin Mas'ud demonstrated an absolute devotion to mastering the context and revelation of every single chapter. Their readiness to travel long distances just to gain a better understanding from others teaches us that pursuing authentic knowledge is a lifelong journey of humility, precision, and profound dedication.

Anas Narrated from:

`Uthman called Zaid bin Thabit, `Abdullah bin Az-Zubair, Sa`id bin Al-`As and `AbdurRahman bin Al-Harith bin Hisham, and then they wrote the manuscripts of the Holy Qur'an in the form of book in several copies. `Uthman said to the three Quraishi persons. " If you differ with Zaid bin Thabit on any point of the Qur'an, then write it in the language of Quraish, as the Qur'an was revealed in their language." So they acted accordingly. (Sa`id bin Thabit was an Ansari and not from Quraish).

`Abdullah Narrated from:

Abdullah (b. Mas'ud) reported that he (said to his companions to conceal their copies of the Qur'an) and further said: He who conceals anything he shall have to bring that which he had concealed on the Day of judgment, and then said: After whose mode of recitation you command me to recite? I in fact recited before Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) more than seventy chapters of the Qur'an and the Companions of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) know it that I have better understanding of the Book of Allah (than they do), and if I were to know that someone had better understanding than I, I would have gone to him.Shaqiq said: I sat in the company of the Companions of Mubkmmad (ﷺ) but I did not hear anyone having rejected that (that is, his recitation) or finding fault with it.

`Abdullah Narrated from:

By Him besides Whom there is no god, there is no chapter in the Book of Allah about which I do not know as to where it was revealed and there is no verse about which I do not know in what context it was revealed, and if I were to know of one having a better understanding of the Book of Allah than I (and I could reach him) on the back of the mule, I would have definitely gone to him on camel's back.

Recite, for this (mist or cloud) was a sign of peace descending for the recitation of Qur'an."
