Prophetic Hadiths on Forbidden Times for Prayer

These prophetic traditions provide clear guidance on the specific times when performing formal prayers is prohibited in Islam. According to these authentic narrations, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) explicitly forbade believers from praying during sunrise and sunset. He instructed Muslims to delay their prayers when the edge of the sun begins to rise until it is high in the sky, and similarly, to wait when the sun begins to disappear until it sets completely. Furthermore, the hadiths highlight that prayers are restricted immediately after the Fajr prayer until the sun rises, as well as after the 'Asr prayer until the sun fully sets. These guidelines ensure that acts of worship are performed at the correct, prescribed times according to Islamic teachings.

Narrated Hisham's father: Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Do not pray at the time of sunrise and at the time of sunset.' " Ibn `Umar said, "Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'If the edge of the sun appears (above the horizon) delay the prayer till it becomes high, and if the edge of the sun disappears, delay the prayer till it sets (disappears completely).'
