Prophetic Teachings and Hadiths on the Rights of Slaves
The provided authentic traditions offer deep insight into how Islam regulates interpersonal behavior and protects subordinates. According to these narratives, striking or slapping a servant or slave is heavily condemned. In one instance, a companion slapped a servant and was told by his father to offer the servant equal retaliation, showcasing the strict standard of justice, though the servant ultimately chose to pardon him. Furthermore, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) explicitly commanded families to free their servants if they were subjected to physical abuse, such as being slapped on the prominent parts of the face. These narrations emphasize that Islamic teachings prioritize human dignity, establishing accountability for masters and granting freedom as a remedy for mistreatment.
