Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1210
This taqwa in business hadith is a strong reminder for merchants. The Prophet saw people doing business and called out to the people of trade. They turned their necks and eyes toward him. He then said that merchants will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment with the wicked, except the one who has taqwa of Allah, behaves charitably, and is truthful. The hadith does not close the door on trade. It shows the danger when business loses taqwa and truth. It also gives the path of safety: fear Allah, act with goodness, and speak the truth in transactions.
What we learn from this hadith
- Merchants are given a serious warning about the Day of Judgment.
- Taqwa is named as a needed quality in trade.
- Charitable behavior is praised for people of business.
- Truthfulness is a condition mentioned for the safe merchant.
