Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1290
This Hadith is about fair sales and avoiding unclear deals. Jabir reports that the Messenger of Allah prohibited al-muhaqalah, al-muzabanah, al-mukhabarah, and making an exception in a sale unless the exception is made known. The wording points to a basic trade value: a sale should not hide what is being excluded. If an exception is made, it must be clear. The text does not define every term in detail, so the explanation should not add long outside rulings. The safe message is that business needs clarity. A buyer and seller should know what is being sold and what is being left out.
What we learn from this hadith
- Unclear sale practices are prohibited in the wording of this report.
- An exception in a sale must be made known.
- Fair trade depends on clear terms between buyer and seller.
