Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1362
This hadith about forbidden marriage in Islam reports Al-Bara' meeting his maternal uncle Abu Burdah ibn Niyar while he was carrying a flag. When asked where he was going, Abu Burdah said that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) had sent him to a man who married a woman his father had married. The wording shows a very serious response to this act. The explanation should stay close to the text: it does not describe a normal family dispute, nor does it speak about marriage in general. It speaks about one specific forbidden act connected to a father's former wife. The hadith teaches that some family boundaries are treated with great seriousness in Islamic law and must not be crossed.
What we learn from this hadith
- Family marriage boundaries must be respected.
- The text presents this act as a very serious violation.
- A person should not treat forbidden relationships as ordinary choices.
- Islamic judgment protects family limits and moral order.
