Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1500
This hadith about sacrificing a young animal reports that the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم gave sheep to Uqbah bin Amir to distribute among his Companions as sacrifices. A young male kid or young billy goat remained, so Uqbah mentioned it to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم told him to sacrifice it for himself. Another report in the same passage says a Jadha remained and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم gave the same instruction. Waki also said that a Jadha among sheep is six or seven months old. The explanation should stay with this case: Uqbah asked about what remained, and the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم allowed him to sacrifice it for himself.
