Mujahid Narrated from:
The Prophet (ﷺ) Prohibited Instigating Fights Between Beasts. And He Did Not Mention "From Ibn 'Abbas" In It. It Is Said That This Is More Correct That The (Previous) Narration Of Qutbah.Sharik Narrated This Hadith From Al-A'Mash, From Mujahid, From Ibn 'Abbas, From The Prophet (ﷺ) Similarly, But He Did Not Mention "From Abu Yahya" In It. This Was Narrated To Us By Abu Kuraib From Yahya Bin Adam, From Sharik. Abu Mu'Awiyah Reported It From Al-A'Mash, From Mujahid, From The Prophet (ﷺ) Similarly. And Abu Yahya Is Al-Qattat Al-Kufi, And It Is Said That His Name Is Zadhan. [Abu 'Eisa Said:] There Are Narrations On This Topic From Talhah, Jabir, Abu Sa'Eed, And 'Ikrash Bin Dhuwaib.

Summary of Jami at-Tirmidhi Hadith 1709
This hadith about prohibiting fights between beasts reports from Mujahid that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم prohibited instigating fights between animals. The narration also mentions differences in how the chain was reported, including whether Ibn Abbas or Abu Yahya was mentioned. Still, the central text remains the same: stirring up fights between animals was prohibited. The related phrase hadith about animal cruelty is useful because many readers search for Islamic teachings on treating animals well. This report teaches that people should not create harm between animals. It also shows how hadith scholars paid attention to the exact chain of narration.
What we learn from this hadith
- The main report forbids instigating fights between animals.
- The narration shows careful review of chains by hadith scholars.
- Animals should not be pushed into harm by people.
- The same core wording is preserved through different reports.
